Both parties almost always suck, but the democrats have never not-sucked.

Smart advice, unfortunately so many of these folks look for made up anxiety to fill their lives.

Don't they remember feeling this exact thing eight years ago? Don't they remember that all their fears never materialized?

They want to be freaked out for some reason. It's sad.

Very kind. I think they need mental help. We had to put up with an eggplant for 4 years who did things I disagreed with vociferously on a regular basis and I didn’t throw tantrums. I went to work and got on with my life. Hoping for change in 2025.

I used to vote for the best candidate until Republicans were so scared they'd lose their jobs, they rubber-stamped everything Trump said. Democrats don't know what they stand for either.

Living in a Red State, I USED to vote a straight Dem ticket. After the American people gave up on being informed, I don't know if I'll vote again

I'm wondering if you've ever thought of voting for third party candidates? There have been quite a few good ones in the past. Breaking the two party system would be awesome, but it requires votes. Even if the candidates don't win, the more votes they get, the more press, and the more press, the better the chances are that a third party candidate might win a major victory in the future.

If we ever have Ranked Choice voting, I'll vote 3rd party. I've voted Independent most of my life. I only started voting strictly Democrat when it was apparent that was what was needed

I live in a blue state, and have begun to vote more conservatively, especially in local elections. Our city and our state are in bad shape. We need practical problem solvers, not starry-eyed ideologues. So I'm voting for that. Anyone who uses the term "Fiscal responsibility" has my vote, ditto to "Improving infrastructure", "Redirecting budget from homeless services to drug rehab and job training" etc.

Every place needs something different. Federal elections don't interest me as much.

How is your local situation? I'm curious about all this.

in my entire lifetime i have never witnessed people no matter who was in office be so publically performatively unhinged. something mental and destabilizing has swept across the country. i saw it happening on fb in 2015. watched my feed fill up with friends spewing the most hateful things about someone they never would meet. but,i also participated in a similar frenzy when obama ran against mccain. sitting at a friends house YELLING sneering at the tv every time the camera swung to mccain,i thought,WHY am i SO ANGRY!? i knew,i truly understood in that moment that i was not under my own sail which made it so much easier to discern when that same sickness reared its head in trumps campaign. your message here is on point, justine. self regulate or perish.

Agreed. I’m currently watching people I’ve known my entire life react to this election as if they just lost everything. No one lost anything. I cannot understand the level of response. It’s actually quite scary. Many of my childhood relationships have been damaged or outright destroyed because of politics and I, too, wonder how this came to be. The revealing character of this total loss of emotional regulation is very concerning.
